At the highest level, what always resonates with me about early stage engagement at public utility commissions is that it is my job - as a professional and an advisor to my industry sectors - to create a value thesis for engagement with regulatry staff. It has always been my job, in some respect, whether this was my days at AGA, EPSA, Exelon, or Tesla. Now, I find that there is an odd peak and valley movement when it comes to regulatory engagement. The dips come when investment environments so deeply frenetic, that no one cares “what the regulators are doing.” And then there is the opposite. I would say, based on my participation in the Senate Bill 6 kickoff workshop, that we are in the upswing from a low point. I tracked the attendees, the interests, the flavor of engagement as truly one of staff asking for help from folks who are willing to help them. And now, there will be formal feedback opportunities on many fronts, and on these opportunities, I have many thoughts.

Note that the staff memo and proposal needs to be approved at an upcoming mid-month Commission open meeting.
